1. Introduction

EssayForge is committed to protecting your personal data, in accordance with Brazil's General Data Protection Law (LGPD, Law 13.709/2018).

2. Data we collect

The complete list, item by item, is in clause 5 of the Terms of Use. The summary below is the same content grouped by purpose — if the two ever disagree, the Terms govern.

• Account data: the name and email that come from sign-in, and the account's region.
• Educational data: the full text of your essays, the photograph of handwriting when you send one, the exam and genre you picked, the time spent writing, the scores by criterion, the AI's comments, the errors and habits flagged, and the whole progress history — average, level, XP, streak, badges, and strongest and weakest criteria.
• Messages: what you exchange with your class teacher and your conversations with the AI tutor.
• Usage data: pages visited and the count of corrections per month, per day, and per minute — the last one to hold back automated bursts.
• Payment data: subscription information processed by Stripe. We do not store card details.
• Security record: when we detect an attempt to inject code or manipulate the AI, we keep the type, the severity, the page, the browser identifier, and an excerpt of what was detected, with the email masked.
• Acceptance of the legal documents: date, version accepted, where the acceptance came from, and browser identifier.
• Approximate region: only the country of your connection, as reported by the site's delivery network, and used solely to pick your country's page, language and exam. We neither read nor store your IP address.

3. How we use your data

• Provide and improve the platform's services.
• Generate AI corrections and personalised feedback.
• Send progress notifications inside the platform.
• Manage subscriptions and billing.
• Meet legal and regulatory obligations.

4. Sharing of data

We do not sell your personal data. We may share it only with:

• Service providers: companies that run part of the platform (hosting, Stripe payments, AI models), under confidentiality agreements.
• Your school: if you are enrolled in a class, your teacher and the coordination can see your essays and progress.
• Authorities: when required by law or court order.

5. Data security

We apply technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss, or destruction — including encryption in transit, role-based access control, and logging of sensitive operations.

6. Data retention

We keep your data for as long as needed to provide the service, or as required by law. After an account is closed, data is anonymised or deleted.

7. Your rights (LGPD)

As the data subject, you have the right to:

• Confirm whether your data is being processed.
• Access the data we hold about you.
• Correct incomplete, inaccurate, or outdated data.
• Request anonymisation, blocking, or deletion of your data.
• Withdraw your consent at any time.
• Request portability of your data.

8. Cookies

We use essential cookies to run the platform — authentication, session, and abuse protection. These do not require consent, because the service cannot work without them.

Preference and usage-measurement cookies are only enabled if you allow them in the cookie notice, and you can change that choice at any time from the site footer.

The platform also uses the Google Ads conversion tag to measure advertising effectiveness. It records events such as account creation and subscription, associated with an advertising identifier.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes. Continued use of the platform after an update means you agree to it.
